Understand the difference in profile
A slant monument has a more pronounced angled inscription face. A bevel marker, sometimes called a pillow marker, has a lower profile with a gentler slope. Looking at the side profile as well as the front view helps you compare them.
Some designs are coordinated with a separate base, while others use a simpler arrangement. We review the monument and base together so the proportions, finish, and placement make sense as one memorial.
Give the lettering enough room
A single-person layout can emphasize the name and a personal message. A companion design needs a considered balance between two sets of names and dates, shared wording, and any individual emblems. We also discuss whether room should be left for a future inscription.
Granite color, polish, borders, and artwork all affect the appearance. Sandblast line designs are available across our granite colors; laser etching with detailed black-background artwork is for black granite. We help you choose the treatment and placement before preparing a final proof.
Match the design to the place it will stand
Cemetery rules can distinguish among flat, bevel, slant, and upright memorials. A bevel marker should not be assumed acceptable in a garden that requires flat markers. Bring the cemetery name and location information, and we will review the permitted style and dimensions with you.
If you want to match an existing memorial, send clear front and side photographs along with any measurements you have. Our designers can discuss the shape, granite, lettering, and base as part of that review.
