Choose black or gray granite for the whole design
Black granite has a dark polished surface that can provide contrast for detailed laser etching. Gray granite offers a different natural appearance and can be personalized with sandblasted lettering and line artwork. Natural stone varies, so compare actual samples and finishes with our designers before choosing.
Consider the headstone, grave marker, or companion monument as a complete composition. The shape, base, names, dates, and placement of a photograph or emblem should work together and fit the space allowed by the cemetery.
Laser-etched portraits and scenes
A clear photograph can be the starting point for a laser-etched portrait, landscape, hobby, or other meaningful scene on black granite. Detailed black-background laser artwork in our studio is for black granite only. Our team reviews the image, its intended size, and the artwork before the final proof.
If you are searching for a headstone with a picture, bring the clearest original photograph you have permission to use. A small or blurry image may not contain enough detail; we can discuss the available starting material and how it will be shown.
Photo cameos on other stone colors
A photo cameo is a separate portrait treatment rather than laser etching into the stone. It can be considered with your selected granite color, including gray, blue, or another available stone. Discuss the shape, size, and placement with our team before approving the memorial.
