Keep these things in mind.
- Compare quotations for the same dimensions, materials, and finish.
- Ask what is included in the lettering, artwork, and accessory choices.
- Clarify foundation, delivery, cemetery, and installation arrangements.
The material and the monument itself
Granite color, overall size, thickness, shape, and finish all affect the scope of a memorial. An upright with a separate base is a different project from a flat marker. A sculpted angel, custom outline, ledger, or family estate introduces different design and construction considerations.
Ask for the dimensions of each piece, including the base or subbase. Compare polished surfaces and textured edges as well as the general shape. Two photographs may look similar while the specifications describe quite different monuments. Bronze memorials should also be compared with their intended granite backing and accessory arrangements.
Lettering, artwork, and personal details
The number and arrangement of inscriptions, the artwork treatment, and additional features help determine the work involved. Discuss names, dates, epitaphs, borders, emblems, portraits, and any lettering planned for the back of the monument.
Sandblasted line artwork, laser etching on black granite, and photo cameos are different treatments. Ask which method is included in your proposed design. If you expect to add a date or another inscription in the future, ask how that later work would be arranged and quoted.
The foundation, cemetery, and installation
A quotation should make the project arrangements understandable. Ask about the foundation, delivery, placement, and installation, along with any cemetery permits or charges that apply to your location. Confirm which items Lawrence Memorials will arrange and which items the cemetery handles.
Cemetery requirements are specific to the property and sometimes to the garden or section. Supplying the exact location helps our team develop a quotation around the memorial that can be placed there. Our service extends from personal design through installation for families throughout Central Alabama.
Bring these details for a clear quotation
You do not need a finished design to begin. A preferred style, a photograph, or a rough sketch is enough to start the discussion. If you have a budget in mind, share it with our designers so we can consider the choices that matter most to you.
We prepare your quotation around your design and cemetery requirements. Review the final specification and proof before approving an order, and ask about anything that is not clear. You can submit your idea online or speak with one of our experienced designers at 334-605-8985.
